Spices
  • 4 tbsp chili powder Look for high-quality, vibrant variety for the best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin For that warm, earthy flavor.
  • 2 tbsp onion powder A staple for flavor; feel free to use freshly minced if you prefer!
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika Adds depth and a smoky flavor; use the Spanish version for more richness.
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder Elevates everything; always have this on hand!
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano For a burst of aroma; Mexican oregano can give it an authentic touch.
  • 2 tbsp kosher salt Adjust according to taste; sea salt is a wonderful alternative.
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper A classic flavor enhancer.

Notes

Fresh spices make a world of difference. If you're unsure about your spices, a good rule of thumb is to replace them every 6 months to a year. Feel free to swap spices based on your preference!
