  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt Greek yogurt works perfectly for a lighter option.
  • 3 tbsp minced fresh dill Fresh dill is key for flavor.
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon zest Zest the yellow part only to avoid bitterness.
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tbsp cream or milk (optional) Add for a looser texture.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream (or yogurt), minced dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, kosher salt, and ground black pepper. Use a rubber spatula or whisk to mix until smooth and velvety.
  2. If you prefer a looser sauce, stir in 1 tablespoon of cream or milk until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
  4. Before serving, taste the sauce and adjust the salt and pepper if necessary.
  5. Serve the dill sauce chilled or at cool room temperature over salmon or as a dip for veggies.

Notes

Store leftover dill sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor. Consider making it a day in advance for more developed flavors.
